Happy Anniversary!

So today our blog is one year old! Hard to believe that an entire year has passed since we began this. We have learned a lot about the art of blogging over the past 365 days. Uploading pictures, figuring out how to attach some music, link to other great blogs, etc! We would like to try a new experiment for the next year. Verl thinks we should be very ambitious and post a new thought, moment or story for every day of the year. So beginning January 1, 2010 we will begin. Watch for us to evolve even more and I can't wait for the adventure to begin! But for right now, enjoy some pictures from our past!

Kids Koloring Kontest

K.M.

Here is another entry in our Kontest. With the drawing only 2 hours away, we wish all our entrants good luck!

Our Christmas Wish for You

It is that time of year when the hustle and bustle of preparing for the Christmas season is winding down.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and it never ceases to amaze me that around 3 in the afternoon time will perform a miracle and will slow. The house will seem cozier, the lights just right, the smells of baking will invade the rooms, people will smile easier and love will create a warm feeling within us all.

Put your worries aside and allow the spirit of the season to warm your heart.

As we prepare to usher in another year and decade, allow yourself to remember the past fondly and welcome the bright and shining future of the year 2010.

Wishing Everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Winter Soltice, and the Very Best New Year!

Baby, It's Cold Outside

All 3 vehicles in all 3 bays belong to Bob.

The Ford, The Chev and The Subaru - or The Good, the Bad and the Ugly?

Checking over the battery and alternator.

Long time customer and friend, Bob called us early today. His wife's car wouldn't start. The temperature at the time was -44C with the windchill. He went to get his Chev truck from his garage to try to boost the car. It stalled and wouldn't start. Then he went and got his Ford truck and it also stalled! The only thing that would start - the bobcat! Now that would be a funny sight to see Bob and his wife heading to church, wonder who would get to sit in the bucket?

By the way - he has 1 more Ford and it won't start either!

Toys for Tots

We have the Greatest Clientel - the toys are beginning to come into the shop. We will deliver them next week. Thank-you so much to those who have brought toys in to the shop and there is still time for more to be delivered.

You may have received a free oil change, but you have done something much more special - you have made a child's Christmas.

Once again - thanks and we wish everyone the Merriest of Christmases!

In Awe

Spencer has been watching his dad very carefully this week. Verl has been rebuilding a carburetor in a 1985 Cheverolet Silverado. This is very old school technology for Spencer because the year of the truck is the year he was born!

Fight the Flu!

Here is another way to fight the flu and cold season this year. Take a look at your vehicle and see if there is a cabin air filter. Each vehicle is different regarding the location of the filter. Here is an example of one that hasn't been changed. You can really see the difference. Just think of germs that are being pulled out of the air inside your car!

New Video has been posted

We have made and posted our first movie video to You Tube. Set to great music from the Black Eyed Peas are pictures of 27 of our favorite people who attended the Ladies Night last October. This new technology is hard for those of us who are technologically challenged to figure out! Thanks to Tyler and Heather for taking the pictures and helping me put them into video form. Without them, I would still be trying to fiqure this out next year!

We have the Greatest Clients!

This afternoon, Mickey was feeling a little blue as it was her last day at the job she held for 20 years.

A gentleman came into our shop with this giant chocolate bar. He said, "Thanks for the newsletter you send each month. I greatly appreciate it!"

The giant chocolate bar is a thank-you from him for the enjoyment he receives from our monthly newsletter. The kicker to this story - HE HAS NEVER HAD WORK DONE HERE !

Thank-you to this new to us client for brightening Mickey's day by both reaffirming her decision and for the gift of her favorite food!

Maintenance Works!

Through the window - the old yellow truck

Owning a car means that you need to take the time to familiarize yourself with how it works and what it needs to keep running in tip top shape. Once of the best places to start is with your glove box. Inside there you should find your owners manual or operating manual. Although these books may seem boring or uninteresting they will help keep your vehicle running dependably and safe for a long time.

“What are the highest KMs you have ever had on a vehicle, Dad?” asked Spencer.
“We had an old yellow Ford truck that was second hand and because we maintained it we were able to drive it past the 500,000 km mark”, said Verl.
“What happened to it after that? Did you send it to the auto wreckers? asked Spencer.
“No, I sold it and it is still being driven around town today!” said Verl, secretly wishing he had kept the ugly thing.

This is a true story and the old yellow truck is still motoring along 3 years after Verl sold it. See – regular maintenance does work!

Ladies Night!

Once again - thanks to all who were able to attend our first ever Ladies night. We truly hope that you found it both informational and fun!

Hands on for the Ladies
